a remarkable seaside town
Le Tréport & its towering cliffs
A working fishing harbour, a funicular cut into the chalk and a view that opens onto the whole Alabaster Coast.
Set against the highest chalk cliffs in Europe, Le Tréport lives to the rhythm of its working fishing harbour, its unpretentious seafood restaurants and its bracing sea air.
A fishing harbour at the foot of the cliffs
Le Tréport lives to the rhythm of its harbour. Trawlers come in with the tide, the fish auction stirs into life, and the terraces of the quai François Ier follow suit. It is a working town as much as a seaside one, and that is what gives it its character.
Above, the chalk cliff rises more than a hundred metres over the Channel. The funicular, free of charge and cut into the rock, takes you up in a few minutes: from the top, the harbour, the town and the Bresle estuary lie before you at a glance.
In the streets, the church of Saint-Jacques and the Cordiers quarter are reminders that the town is far older than its seaside calling.
